Basecoat

Purpose

The purpose of the basecoat is to bring the colour to the final complete paint system. The most common basecoats are either solvent-based or water-based and applied over a cured primer.

NPAC unique BC technology is able to bring very high chroma without the need for a tinted cc. This generation of basecoat rely on multiple layers is named tri-coat system.

A new technology has emerged, the primerless basecoat system, which is becoming the new standard for automotive OEM paint.

The purpose is to replace the primer and basecoat with one layer with the same final performance, yet reducing the VOC content, and the paint processing cost.
